Axinn attorneys obtained a settlement with an economic value of more than $1 million for a pro bono client. The U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut appointed Drew Hillier, a former law clerk at the Court, to pursue the civil rights case on behalf of a plaintiff who alleged discrimination on the basis of race and gender, among other claims. After defeating the defendant’s Rule 12 motion and engaging in extensive fact and expert discovery, the Axinn team negotiated a settlement that provides for monetary payment and other terms with a present economic value of roughly $1.2 million. The Axinn team was led by Drew Hillier and assisted by Fran Morrison, John Tanski, Brooke Oppenheimer, David Ludwig, Ryan Cook and Rebecca Clegg.
