January 1, 1999
Axinn senior partner Steve Axinn was selected by Assistant Attorney General Joel Klein and formally retained by the United States Department of Justice, Antitrust Division, to lead the antitrust investigation of WorldCom's attempted acquisition of Sprint Corp. Axinn partner John Harkrider also was retained by the Justice Department. After an investigation of several months, Axinn signed the complaint that sought to enjoin WorldCom from acquiring Sprint.
