On May 11, 2009, Christine Varney, head of the antitrust division at the Department of Justice announced The White House will be repudiating the Bush Administration’s approach toward antitrust guidelines on illegal monopolies. The announcement was the first in a series of steps The White House plans to take to enforce more stringent antitrust regulation. John Harkrider, Co-Chair of the antitrust practice at Axinn, was used as a sounding board for The Wall Street Journal’s Law Blog to examine what these changes will mean.
