Michael Clendenen represents clients in complex litigation, with experience spanning constitutional, administrative, and regulatory disputes. Before joining private practice, he served as a Trial Attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Division, Federal Programs Branch, where he represented the federal government in more than 100 cases. He has appeared in federal district courts across the country, including for oral arguments and evidentiary proceedings in preliminary injunction matters.

Michael previously clerked for the Honorable William J. Kayatta, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. During law school, he gained practical experience through internships with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Division Appellate Staff in Washington, DC, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas in Houston, and the chambers of Chief Judge Lee Rosenthal of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Earlier in his career, he served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He earned his JD from the University of Texas School of Law, where he served as an Articles Editor for the Texas Law Review and published a note on constitutional issues in federal sentencing. He received his BA in Mathematical Economic Analysis from Rice University.
