Axinn Successfully Secures Asylum for Pro Bono Client
September 26, 2018
Axinn attorneys Kail Jethmalani and Carol Liu successfully secured asylum for a pro bono client fleeing political persecution in Egypt. The client, referred through Axinn’s partnership with Human Rights First, was on several occasions arbitrarily detained, intimidated and physically abused by members of Egypt’s state security forces for their anti-government positions. Egyptian State security also prevented the client from pursuing a career in their chosen profession due to their political views.
The Axinn team assisted the client with preparing the affirmative asylum application, supporting legal briefing and accompanying the client through a grueling interview process. After many months of waiting, the client and their family received news that their application was granted and that they could begin a new life in the United States.
