Axinn Partner John DeQ. Briggs Endows Antitrust Professorship at Georgetown Law
July 14, 2026
John DeQ. Briggs, a partner at Axinn and founder of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, has made a significant gift to Georgetown University Law Center to establish the John DeQ. Briggs Endowed Professorship in Antitrust Law.
The gift will support the hiring, recruitment, and compensation of Georgetown Law’s antitrust faculty, as well as related academic programming and scholarship activity. Briggs intends to further strengthen the professorship through a future estate commitment that would elevate it to an endowed chair.
A 1972 Georgetown Law graduate, Briggs brings more than 50 years of antitrust experience to the firm.
“Georgetown Law has been at the foundation of my career, and I’m eternally grateful for the opportunities the school afforded me,” Briggs said. “This gift reflects my belief that great law schools must maintain antitrust as a prominent part of their curriculum.”
Briggs founded Axinn’s D.C. office in 2009 and continues to serve as a trusted leader, advisor, and mentor within the antitrust practice.
