Summer Associate Program

We are eager to meet the Class of 2026!

Applications open on June 1st

Real Experience and Practical Training

The Summer Program at Axinn combines firsthand experience with broad exposure to each of the firm’s elite-level practices. Following orientation, summer associates are immediately engaged in active work projects, to the greatest extent possible the same types of assignments as the firm's First-Years receive. This work typically entails informal interaction with many of the country’s top practitioners in antitrust, intellectual property law and litigation; involvement in high-level strategy meetings, court appearances and depositions; and substantive research and brief writing. Summer associates attend internal meetings and seminars to familiarize themselves with the lawyers, clients and range of projects that comprise each practice focus within the firm. Additionally, both Axinn attorneys and outside professionals provide interactive training in such topics as legal writing and effectively utilizing firm resources and support services. All hands-on work training experiences emphasize “learning by doing” and serve to enhance opportunities for summer associates to develop, exercise, and build confidence in their lawyering skills.

Mentoring and Feedback

Each summer associate is assigned a partner and associate mentor, who are available to prioritize assignments, act as a sounding board and get involved with formal mid- and end-of-summer reviews.  Assignments are made by a senior attorney who is familiar with client projects, as well as the interests of the summer associates.

Summer Associate Life

Axinn combines the prestige of a large firm with the informal atmosphere of a smaller one. The firm enjoys each other’s company, and its summer associates are invited to join events such as the annual bike tour, wine tastings, theater outings and cooking classes, among others.

Recruitment

Axinn participates in on-campus interviewing at 20 of the most competitive law schools in the country and various job fairs. Each year, we also host a Google Legal Studies Institute student in our Summer Associate Program.

How to apply

We encourage students who are particularly interested in a career in Antitrust, IP or Litigation to apply directly to Axinn via our online application portal on or after June 1, 2024. In your application, please include your resume, first-year law school grades, and a writing sample, also be sure to denote which practice area and office location you are most interested in.

We look forward to meeting you soon!

I decided to join Axinn because of its renowned reputation for antitrust litigation and counseling, as well as its robust opportunities for practice-specific training. After a marvelous experience as a summer associate with Axinn last year, and becoming part of the Axinn team, I am convinced I made the right decision."

Chandler Gordon
